Basement Hopper windows are designed to replace old, smaller basement windows found in many older homes (usually in excess of 30 years). These windows swing in and are hinged at the top corners and are sometimes referred to as inswing awning windows. The hinge mechanism has a 45 degree and a 90 degree stop holding the window open at these settings.
A very inexpensive opening window which is an ideal replacement basement window. These can also be used for basement bedrooms when meeting the minimum egress size requirements.
Hinge mechanism inadequate for larger windows and when the window is open at 45 or 90 degrees rain accompanied by wind may cause serious water damage.
