Vertical Slider windows are windows that usually have a picture window at the top while the bottom is able to slide up and down. A hidden spring assembly attached to the frame and the sliding sash allows the window to stay in any position without closing itself due to gravity. A double vertical slider window is also available from some manufacturers. In this type of window there is no fixed unit at the top as both units are able to slide up and down.

Advantages

This is the second least expensive opening window.

Disadvantages

A sliding window is the least energy efficient window as the weatherstripping is a friction fit. Ideally the tightest friction fit would allow for the best seal against the elements but the ability to slide up and down would be severely hampered, thus a happy medium must be reached to achieve the best seal while still being operational.
